چکیده

Abstract This study has been accomplished by testing three different models to determine rocks type, pore throat radius, and flow units for Mishrif Formation in West Qurna oilfield Southern Iraq based on full diameter cores from 20 wells. The that were used this Lucia type classification, Winland plot was utilized the radius depending mercury injection test (r35), (FZI) concepts identify which enabled us recognize differences between these categories. of characteristics is very significant reservoir evaluation. It controls storage mechanism fluid properties permeable while structure a critical controlling factor petrophysical multiphase-flow rocks. Flow zone indicator hydraulic approach (HFUs). Each (HFU) reproduced certain FZI supposed have similar geological properties. samples four lithofacies, mA, CRII, mB1, mB2. Because wide range cored-wells (20 wells), paper updated previous studies indicated some resulting noticed as results types lower mostly ranged wackestone packstone upper part mB2 reflected mid-ramp facies referred shoal mB1 unit grainstone with points marked rudist bioherm facies. Chemical, physical characterization and salinity distribution of the oilfield water in the Upper Sandstone Member of the Zubair reservoir at Rumaila North Oilfield, Southern Iraq

The oilfield water in the Upper Sandstone Member of the Zubair reservoir (Barriemian-Hauterivian) at Rumaila North Oil Field was investigated for the interpretation of salinity and geochemical evolution of brine compositions. The interaction of the oilfield water with reservoir rock resulted in a brine water derived from the marine water origin of partial mixing with meteoric water similar to t...

Hydraulic flow units and permeability prediction in a carbonate reservoir, Southern Iraq from well log data using non-parametric correlation

The determination of permeability in heterogeneous and anisotropic reservoirs is a complex problem, because core samples and well test data are usually only available for limited number of wells. This paper presents hydraulic flow units and flow zone indicator for predicting permeability of rock mass from core and well log-data. The concept is applied to some uncored wells/intervals to predict ...

The Evaluation of Reservoir Quality of Sarvak Formation in One of Oil Fields of the Persian Gulf

Sarvak formation, with the middle cretaceous (Cenomanian) age, is one of the stratigraphic units of the Bangestan group in the southern Iran. The carbonate rocks of this formation form the reservoir rock in the study field. Generally, Sarvak formation is subdivided into three members including Mishrif, Khatiyah, and Maddud in the Persian Gulf, and the average thickness of the reservoir unit (i....

Reservoir Rock Characterization Using Wavelet Transform and Fractal Dimension

The aim of this study is to characterize and find the location of geological boundaries in different wells across a reservoir. Automatic detection of the geological boundaries can facilitate the matching of the stratigraphic layers in a reservoir and finally can lead to a correct reservoir rock characterization. Nowadays, the well-to-well correlation with the aim of finding the geological l...

A Review of Reservoir Rock Typing Methods in Carbonate Reservoirs: Relation between Geological, Seismic, and Reservoir Rock Types

Carbonate reservoirs rock typing plays a pivotal role in the construction of reservoir static models and volumetric calculations. The procedure for rock type determination starts with the determination of depositional and diagenetic rock types through petrographic studies of the thin sections prepared from core plugs and cuttings. In the second step of rock typing study, electrofacies are deter...
